PM Tells Ministers to Prioritize Their Work over Public Appearances

KANDAL: In his second public appearance since taking office as prime minister on August 22, Prime Minister Hun Manet addressed the need for his ministers to prioritize their important work over accompanying him to public events.

Speaking at a meeting with nearly 20,000 workers in Takhmao City on September 1, the PM asked that protocol be reviewed when it comes to officials attending public events. He added that sending a secretary of state in their place would be sufficient, which should not be difficult, as the new administration appointed 1,422 officials serving as secretaries or undersecretaries of state shortly after the PM took office.

Prime Minister Hun Manet’s cabinet is comprised of many new faces to senior positions in the government. Of the 28 ministries, 20 are under new leadership.

"Serving the people is what we have to do," he said.
